Mamas for Mamas TX Support Group
The Mamas For Mamas TX Support Group is a free, online resource for mothers across Texas.
Having a new baby at home can be a time of transition, joy, and grief for how things used to be—not to mention the lack of sleep!
Mamas for Mamas meets on Mondays from 12-1 PM CST on Zoom. There is NO charge to join the support group. Mamas meet to support one another through challenging times and good times. Typically, moms who attend are struggling with postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, or postpartum OCD.
If you are interested in joining, please contact Tara Sen Pitt at tarasenpitt.com or 512-710-6920.
Tara grew up in Houston as the daughter of a German mom and an Indian (South Asian) dad. She is a 50-something-year-old mother of three. She went to Texas A&M University for undergrad and then to The University of Denver to obtain a Master's in Counseling Psychology. She now lives in Austin, Texas.
In addition to facilitating Mamas for Mamas peer support group once a week, Tara mostly does one-on-one talk therapy. She is working on her Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International (PSI). She also uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Sand Tray therapy for the treatment of pain, trauma, anxiety, grief, and loss. She works with all types of folks, especially moms, teens, and young adults. She also likes to work with other Asian Americans and “third culture kids,” who grow up in places that are not their parents’ homeland.
Tara has worked with college students dealing with acculturation and careers, women who just gave birth, and people navigating bumpy relationships. She has also worked with people who have faced complex trauma and violence in her work with the Austin Police Department’s Victims Services.
Her favorite life experience was studying abroad in Italy in college and learning a bit of Italian. When not in session, she loves hiking, spin class, and traveling to Mexico.
